Rescue is a crucial element of herpetoculture and conservation of herpetofauna.  Unfortunately, people surrender their animals for a variety of reasons — death or illness, financial crisis, divorce, change in employment status, because they did not properly research the care of an animal before purchase, because they have lost interest, because a child has become disinterested in a pet, and for many, many other reasons.

Many animals that come into rescue are in good health.  However, a significant number of them suffer from neglect or abuse.  Some have conditions for which they will need veterinary attention, and a percentage of them will have medical needs for life.

Herp Alliance supports rescue and we ask that our supporters also support a reptile rescue of their choice.
